Dennis Ray Chilton

Mr. Dennis Ray Chilton, 64, of Grantville, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2019, at his home. Mr. Chilton was born September 29, 1954, in St. Louis, MO, son of the late Ralph and Edith Hochstatter Chilton. A veteran of service in the U.S. Air Force from 1973 until 1977, he was a retired general contractor and was a 30 year faithful member of Harvest Park Baptist Church in Newnan, where he served in the music ministry. He also served as chairman of Hope Global Initiative in Newnan, a mission-based non-profit which mentors youth and seeks to improve housing opportunities for the less fortunate. Dennis had a passion for humor, but family, church, and charity were the most important parts of his life. Survivors include his children, Cletus Ray Chilton, his wife Elizabeth and their children, Nathan, Lily and Victoria; Amanda Chilton and her children Rachel, Sydney and Brystal; Kati Zimmerman, her husband Bo and their son, Cardin; his former wife and friend, Penni Chilton; and his sisters, Marilyn Boeldt, Lauren Wiseman, and Patti Scaroni. He was preceded in death by his brother, Mike Chilton. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 21, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Lee Ayers will officiate and interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Monday night. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hope Global Initiative, 780 Bruce Jackson Rd., Newnan, GA 30263. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
