Davis Word Booker

Mr. Davis Word Booker, 78, of LaGrange, passed away Friday, December 30, 2016, at Hospice LaGrange. Born December 12, 1938, Mr. Booker was the son of the late Lewis Henderson Booker and Frances Word Booker and was raised in Hogansville. A veteran of service in the U.S. Navy, he lived in Troup County most of his life, was employed in banking for a number of years, and retired from Shorewood Packaging Corp. He was Baptist by faith and was an avid sports fan, enjoying all sports but especially football, basketball and baseball. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Miles of LaGrange; sons, Dave Booker and his wife Jennifer, Lyle Booker, Russell Booker, all of LaGrange; step-daughter in-law, Sonya Miles of LaGrange; brother, Lewis H. Booker, Jr. and his wife Linda of Birmingham, AL; grandchildren, Tinsley Booker, Trae Booker, Kate Booker, Matthew Booker, Ava Booker; and step-grandchildren. Will Miles, Ted Miles and his wife Christian, and Mary Kate Miles. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy Daniell Booker. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 3, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville, with interment in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 until 7 Monday night. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
