DAVID D. LEWIS, SR.
Mr. David D. Lewis, Sr., 86, of Grantville, died Thursday, February 12, 2009, at his home.
The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 14, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend David Arrington and the Reverend Wendell Banks will officiate and interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan.
Mr. Lewis was born January 11, 1923, in Cleburne county, Alabama, son of the late Charles and Mary Argroves Lewis. A resident of Coweta county most of his life, he retired as a bus driver from the Coweta County School System, was a member of Oaklawn Baptist Church in Newnan, and was a member of Bigham Masonic Lodge in Moreland.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Obenhausen Lewis of Grantville; daughter and son in-law, Charlotte and Terrell Blankenship of Grantville; sons and daughter in-law, Wayne and Bonnie Lewis of Grantville and David D. Lewis, Jr. of Newnan; brother, Joseph Z. Lewis, Sr. of Grantvllle; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances Beckom Lewis; and his daughters, Emily Alice Lewis and Mary Lee Hawk.
The Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
