David Campbell Askew

Mr. David C. Askew, 60, of Hogansville, passed away Monday, December 12, 2016, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital. Mr. Askew was born September 20, 1956, in LaGrange, and lived in Troup County most of his life. A 1974 graduate of Hogansville High School, he earned a Bachelor's degree from Georgia College in Milledgeville, was employed as a grocery store manager for many years, and was employed by United Parcel Service at the time of his death. He loved his Georgia Bulldogs, was an avid golfer, enjoyed NASCAR, and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hogansville. Survivors include his daughters, Sammie Askew Wilson and her husband Craig of Bremen, Tricia Askew Turner and her husband Michael of Roopville, Mary Beth Laney and her husband Dustin of Carrollton; grandchildren, Gavin, LeeAnne, Michael, and Gracyn; his mother, Mary Ann McLendon of Hogansville; sisters, Mary Nelson of LaGrange, Angela Wenger of Dacula; and brother, Bo Askew of Hogansville. He was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin O. Askew, Jr., an infant brother, and two infant sisters. The funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, December 17, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. Interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 until 8 Friday night. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
