Dan Williamson was born in Lumpkin, Georgia on October 21, 1949, son of the late Otis and Lois Bradshaw Williamson.
He graduated from Hogansville High School in 1967 and his yearbook listed him as Most Likely to Succeed. After high school, he attended Georgia Tech and studied engineering. He enlisted in the Navy during the Vietnam War and served from 1969 until 1973 working as an Aviation Electrician.
After the Navy, he settled in San Diego, California and worked at Hewett Packard. A few years later he joined a fast growing technology company, Wang Laboratories, where he stayed for nine years and left as Regional Manager for the West Coast.
In 1985, he co-founded his own business, CSCI, a computer, technology, and communications company. CSCI was sold in 2006 to Iomega/EMC, and he continued with Iomega until his retirement in 2008.
Dan was a man of many hobbies, including gardening, woodworking, gem faceting and reading. He enjoyed sports, especially playing and coaching Little League baseball with his sons. He also played golf and tennis until elbow problems precluded him from playing.
Dan passed away peacefully on January 13, 2017. He is survived by his wife, Yoko; his oldest son Jim, daughter-in-law Peggy, grandsons Justin and Avery; his youngest son Michael, daughter-in-law Stacey, grandson Oliver and granddaughter Abby; his longtime partner Jerrie Michaels; and his brother, David Williamson of Hogansville.
There will be a memorial service for Dan at the Miramar National Cemetery on Friday, February 10th at 2:00.p.m.
