Cletus Ray Chilton, age 50, of Fairburn, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at his home.
Born March 1, 1976, Mr. Chilton was a veteran of service in the U.S. Marine Corps and was employed as a crane operator for Heaton Erecting, Inc. in Forest Park. He loved his work and enjoyed fishing and riding his Harley.
Survivors include his son, Nathan Blake Chilton of Newnan; his mother, Penni Chilton of Grantville; maternal grandmother, Juanita Cardin Cannon of Grantville; two sisters; his former wife and close friend, Elizabeth Abelt of Newnan; and aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Dennis Ray Chilton; his maternal grandfather, Robert Cardin, and his paternal grandparents, Ralph and Edith Chilton.
The family will host a memorial service at 3:00 p.m., Friday, July 10, at Victory Baptist Church in Palmetto, with the Reverend David Smith and the Reverend Lee Ayers officiating.
The family will greet friends at the church before and after the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Christian City Children’s Home in Union City, GA
