Clara Covin Smith

MRS. CLARA COVIN SMTIH Mrs. Clara Covin Smith, 97, of Hogansville, passed away Sunday, August 2, 2015, at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange. Born July 31, 1918 in Hogansville, Mrs. Smith was the daughter of the late Henry David and Laura Sanders Covin. She was a member of the Hogansville Garden Club, the Homemakers Club, the First United Methodist Church of Hogansville, and retired from Uniroyal after 45 years of service. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Smith. Survivors include her daughter and son in-law, Rowena and Cecil Pierce of Carlton; sister, Lucile Marciniak of Hogansville; granddaughter, Sharon Pierce of Athens; great grandchildren, Melea and Eden; and neices and nephews, David and Carol Covin, Mary Fox and Mike Fowler, Tom and Pam Marciniak, and Dan Moore. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 8, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home. The Reverend Willow Heim and the Reverend John Alexander will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Friday night. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hogansville Senior Center, 407 Church St., Hogansville, GA 30230. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
