Christine Harper Upchurch

Mrs. Christine Harper Upchurch, 83, of LaGrange, passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2015, at her home. Mrs. Upchurch was born April 3, 1932, in LaGrange, daughter of the late Willis Terrell Harper and Eunice Garrett Harper. A resident of East Point for many years, she retired as an accountant from the National Park Service after 30 years of service and returned to make her home in LaGrange in 1990. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. Survivors include her daughter, Dawn Downing of LaGrange; sister, Kathleen Costley of Panama City Beach, FL; brother, W. T. Harper of College Park; grandchildren, Cole Downing of Franklin, Kyle Downing of LaGrange, Bayley Downing of Franklin, Camron Downing of LaGrange, Miah Downing and Micah Downing, both of Franklin; great-grandchildren, Makayla Downing, Makenzie Downing, and Rylan Downing; and her cousin and best friend, Linda Westbrook. She was preceded in death by her son, Johnny Upchurch. The funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, December 27, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville, with the Reverend Robert Longshore officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 Sunday afternoon. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
