Christine "Kitty" Smith

Mrs. Christine "Kitty" Smith, age 100, of Moreland, passed away Monday, October 21, 2024, at Westhill at Newnan Crossing.

Mrs. Smith was born April 5, 1924, in the Rocky Mount Community of Meriwether County, daughter of the late John Jackson McCoy and Elizabeth Cook McCoy. A resident of East Point for many years, she retired from Nabisco in Atlanta and had made her home in Moreland since 1978. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Rocky Mount and was very active in all church activities. She was a very giving person and was always willing to assist anyone who was ill or in need.

Survivors include her daughter and son in-law, Judy and Jerry Williams of Stockbridge; son and daughter in-law, Kenneth and Kandee Smith of Moreland; grandchildren, Jimmy Brown, Cindy Tarpley, Kevin Lannen, Kristopher Smith, Kyle Smith; great-grandchildren, Emily Brown, Joshua Tarpley, Jordan Tarpley, Nathan Brown, Abby Brown, Abigail Smith, Micah Smith, Ryleigh Smith; and her sisters, Eleanor Garner of Granbury, TX and Gwen Gradolph of Fayetteville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Talmadge Smith.

The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 24, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Kenny Heinzel and the Reverend Bobby Boswell will officiate and interment will be in Southview Cemetery in Moreland.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., Thursday, prior to the service.
