Christine Shirey Oliver

April 15, 1927 — February 12, 2018

Mrs. Christine Shirey Oliver, 90, formerly of Hogansville, passed away, Monday, February 12, 2018, at Christian City Rehabilitation Center in Union City. Mrs. Oliver was born April 15, 1927, in Heard County, daughter of the late Virgil and John Anna Walston Shirey. A resident of Hogansville most of her life, she retired from Sears in LaGrange after 34 years of service and was a long-time active member of over 50 years at St. James United Methodist Church in Hogansville. Survivors include her granddaughter, Lori Holloway and Lori's husband Tim Whitney; great-granddaughter, Katie Whitney, all of Peachtree City; great-grandson, William Holloway Jr. of Newnan; niece, Leslie Carney of Hawthorne, NY; and nephew, Dane V. Smith of Dallas, TX. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William F. (Pete) Oliver; son, William F. (Bill) Oliver. Jr.; grandson, Bill Holloway; sister and brother in-law, Betty and Wallace V. Smith; and step-mother, Gayle Shirey. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 17, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Willow Heim will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Saturday Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
