Chester M. "Chet" Hunt

Mr. Chester Montgomery "Chet" Hunt, 81, of LaGrange, passed away Friday, January 12, 2024, at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta.

Mr. Hunt was born August 27, 1942, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, son of the late Chester Merl Hunt and Sylvia Barbour Hunt. He retired from the U.S. Marine Corps after 22 years of service and served nine of those years in Hawaii. A resident of Hogansville and LaGrange for the past 30 years, he was a jack of all trades and worked on many of the historic buildings in downtown Hogansville. He rode broncos in rodeos in his youth, winning a number of titles, and was known to be a loquacious individual. Chet will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Donna Hunt of LaGrange; children, Nancy Bailey of Walterboro, SC, Wendy Spinks and her husband Stewart of Junction City, Tammy Moody and her husband Robert Moody of Texas, Ashley Noles of LaGrange, Sven Johnson and his wife Allison Johnson of Hogansville; sister, June Hawks of Idaho; 14 grandchildren; and "a bunch" of great-grandchildren.

A memorial service is not being planned at this time.
