Charlie T. Wheelus

Mr. Charlie Wheelus, 71, of Hogansville, passed away Friday, March 16, 2018, at Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center. Mr. Wheelus was born November 14, 1946, in Greenville, son of the late Carl Abner Wheelus and Rochelle Brown Wheelus. A resident of Hogansville most of his life, he was a veteran of service in the U.S. Army, retired from Uniroyal, Inc. after 25 years of service and from William Carter Company after 20 years of service. He was a member of Hogansville Church of God, served two terms as a member of the Hogansville City Council, and enjoyed fishing, golfing, and going to the beach. Survivors include his wife, Sue Wheelus of Hogansville; sons and daughters in-law, Mark and Christy Jones of LaGrange, Chad and Tootie Wheelus of Franklin, TN, Chris and Tonya Wheelus of Hogansville; sister and brother in-law, Vicki and Wayne Smith of Hogansville; sister in-law, Fredene Wheelus of Hogansville; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sons, Steve Wheelus and Tim Wheelus, and his brother, Stanley Wheelus. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 20, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Lonnie Bennett will officiate and interment will be in Union Baptist Church Cemetery in the St. Marks Community. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Monday night. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
