Mr. Charlie L. Attaway, 88, of Grantville, passed away Friday, February 22, 2019, at his home.
Mr. Attaway was born September 11, 1930, in Coweta County, son of the late Malcom and Jessie Smith Attaway. A veteran of service in the U. S. Army during the Korean War, he was a lifelong resident of Coweta County and retired from William L. Bonnell Co. after 33 years of service, was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Rocky Mount, and was a former deacon of Bethlehem Baptist Church. He enjoyed all sports, especially baseball, basketball and racing, and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Attaway of Grantville; daughters, Marilyn Jane Gore of Grantville, Alicia Sue Copeland of Palmetto; sons, Charles Steven Attaway, Gregory Isaac Attaway, Dwayne Eddie Attaway, all of Grantville, and Terry Scott Attaway of Palmetto; brother, Douglas Attaway of Hogansville; 14 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 25, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Kenneth Heinzel will officiate and interment will be in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in the Rocky Mount Community of Meriwether County.
