Charles Wayne Trammell

Charles "Wayne" Trammell, 79, of Moreland, passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2020. Wayne was born on November 12, 1940 in Lancaster, SC. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles Wesley Trammell and Julia Merrell Estes Trammell, and his brother, James "Richard" Trammell. When Wayne and Richard were young boys, their family moved from SC to the farm in Coweta County, GA which had been in the family for generations. Wayne served in the U.S. Army from October, 1963 until October, 1965. He married his true love, Sue Hannah, on July 1, 1966. He worked in design and drafting for years for Durand Wayland, Coca-Cola, Lockheed Martin, and Atlanta-Grotnes before beginning to farm full time in 1975. He was creative and enjoyed designing and building, woodworking and furniture making, and experimenting with new technologies in agriculture. He was a member of Luthersville Baptist Church for most of his life and served as a deacon there and also attended New Hope Baptist near Moreland in recent years. Wayne had great love for all his family and friends, especially his wife, Sue, who predeceased him by seven months, and for his survivors including sons, Wesley Wayne Trammell and his wife Leigh of Moreland, Mark Scott Trammell and his wife Mary of Atlanta; grandchildren who were the light of his life, Dalton Trammell, Jake Trammell and Camden Trammell of Moreland, and Rosemarie Trammell and George Trammell of Atlanta; brother-in-law Selby Hannah and Selby's best friend Dianne Hood of Wilmington, NC; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, August 11th at 6:30 p.m., at Luthersville Cemetery with Reverend Winston Skinner and Reverend Rhodes Skinner officiating. Social distancing will be observed and the use of masks is encouraged due to COVID-19 concerns. For those unable to attend, a video of the service will be available the next day on the funeral home's website. With COVID-19 precautions, visiting the funeral home is available from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on August 11th or upon request, although the family will not be present. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, to please consider a memorial contribution to the Luthersville Cemetery Fund, c/o SouthCrest Bank, P.O. Box 237, Luthersville, GA 30251 or to a favorite charity. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
