Charles C. Jackson, Sr.

Mr. Charles C. Jackson, Sr., 78, of Manchester, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at Warm Springs Medical Center.

Mr. Jackson was born December 8,1944, in Hogansville, son of the late Prentis Lamar Jackson and Levie Allie Mae Hanson Jackson. A U.S. Army veteran, he served in Korea during the Vietnam War, was employed in Manchester by GTE and Alltel and retired from Windstream Communications. He was Baptist by faith and was a true fan of Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Braves and NASCAR. Mr. Jackson was an avid hunter and fisherman, and was a longtime board member and treasurer of the Pine Mountain Lake Foundation (Chalybeate Lake).

He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Hilda Reid Jackson and is survived by his daughter, Tonya and Chris Wheelus of Hogansville; sons, Charles (Chuck) Jackson, Jr. and Kevin Jackson and Dona Martin, all of Manchester; eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, January 8, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Charles Williams will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. until 3:30 p.m., Sunday.
