Mr. Charles Harold DuBose, 72, of Franklin, passed away Monday, December 12, 2016, at Hospice LaGrange.
Born April 5, 1944, in Elba, Alabama, Mr. DuBose was a veteran of service in the U.S. Navy and the Army National Guard. He retired from the Atlanta Police
Department after 25 years of service and then retired from the State of Georgia Capitol Police Force after twelve years of service. He was a Mason, a Shriner, a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and had authored several articles and books about Civil War history. Mr. DuBose had lived in Heard County since 2012 and was a member of Corinth Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Martha DuBose of Franklin; his children, Moreen Demby of San Diego, CA, Mike DuBose of Franklin, Jean Calma of San Diego; Jeffrey (Michelle) Evans of Auburn, Donna Michelle Gunckel of College Park, William Evans and Tim DuBose, both of Franklin; his mother, Inez Benton of Plant City, FL; sisters, Jan Benton of Plant City, FL, Becky Benton of Enterprise, AL, Christine Collins of Demorest; 20 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Charlie DuBose, daughter, Angela Edna DuBose, and father, Dewey DuBose.
The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 15, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Preston Parker will officiate and interment will be in College Park Cemetery, with military honors.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Wednesday night.
