MRS. CECIL T. TRAMMELL
Mrs. Cecil Taylor Trammell, 94, of Luthersville, died Tuesday, December 6, 2011, at Southland Health and Rehabilitation Center in Peachtree City.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 9, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. Rev. Daniel Ausbun, Rev. Winston Skinner, and her daughter Johnnie Ann Stivers will officiate and interment will be in the Luthersville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3 until 5, Thursday afternoon.
Born August 18, 1917, in Franklin, Mrs. Trammell was the daughter of the late Dr. Enoch Joseph Taylor and the late Onie Persons Taylor. She moved from Franklin to Hogansville at an early age and was a 1934 graduate of Hogansville High School. She lived in Meriwether County most of her life, was a longtime member of Luthersville Baptist Church, and had been a member of First Baptist Church of Moreland since 2006. She was the wife of the late John M. Trammell and enjoyed cooking and interior decorating. In the late 1940's and early 1950's, Mrs. Trammell spearheaded the drives to bring Rural Electrification Administration service and the original telephone service to Luthersville.
Survivors include her daughters and son in-law, Johnnie Ann Stivers of Mart, TX, Glynis and Michael Massengale of Ft. Payne, AL; sons and daughters in-law, Douglas and Marie Trammell of Hixson, TN, Charles and Mollie Trammell of Luthersville; sister, Novelle Copeland of LaFayette; 15 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association Georgia Chapter, 41 Perimeter Center East, Suite 550, Atlanta, GA 30346.
