Brenda Bassett Caldwell

Mrs. Brenda Bassett Caldwell, 68, of Gay, passed away, Thursday, November 9, 2017, Columbus Hospice. Mrs. Caldwell was born September 13, 1949, in West Point and was a lifelong resident of Meriwether County. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Gay, enjoyed square-dancing, and was a member of the Co-Op Club of Gay. Survivors include her husband of 50 years and 4 months, Lanny Caldwell of Gay; daughter, Amy Wilson and her husband Mike of Smith Station, AL; grandchildren, Landon Wilson and Brooke Dorworth; her mother, Mary June Railey of Greenville; sisters, Tracie Blair of LaGrange, Dian Chastain of Gay, Mary Faye Bulloch of Warm Springs; and brothers, Steve Bassett of Woodbury and Larry Bassett of Newnan. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Tammy Griggs, who passed away May 28, 2017; and by her father, Robert Fay Bassett. The family will host a joint memorial service for Brenda and Tammy at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 18, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Gay, with the Reverend Wendell Banks officiating. The family will greet friends at the church. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
