Mr. Bobby Lynwood Olmstead, 83, of Moreland, passed away Sunday, January 18, 2026, at his home.
Mr. Olmstead was born August 30, 1942, in Meriwether County, son of the late Reverend Bobby James Olmstead and Myrtie Theneye Slaton Olmstead Eubanks. A veteran of service as a radio-teletype operator in the U.S. Army, he was a 1960 graduate of Newnan High School and retired from James River Corporation in Newnan after 36 years of service. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in the Rocky Mount Community of Meriwether County, was a member of the American Legion, was known as a jack-of-all trades and a tinkerer, and loved to garden and take care of his yard.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Cynthia Olmstead of Moreland; daughter, Teresa Eubanks (the late Kyle Eubanks) of Jacksonville, FL; Randall Lynwood Olmstead (Shayne) of Moreland; grandchildren, Lindsey Olmstead of Plainfield, IN, Brandon Murrow (Liz) of Newnan, Tyler O’Keefe of Moreland; great-grandchildren, Banks Lynwood Patrick and River Olmstead both of Plainfield, IN, Madelynn Murrow and Marshall Bobby Murrow, both of Newnan; brother, Donald Olmstead (Ann) of Grantville; and sisters in-law, Debbie Olmstead of Newnan, Marsha Stowers of Palmetto. In addition to his parents and son in-law, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Gerald Olmstead, Roger Olmstead, Autry Olmstead; and step-father, Era Eubanks.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 24, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Kenneth Heinzel will officiate and interment will be in Southview Cemetery in Moreland with military honors.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Saturday, prior to the service.
