MR. BOBBY THOMAS LANE
Mr. Bobby Thomas Lane, 85, of Hogansville, passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at his home.
Born February 4, 1936, in Cedartown, Mr. Lane was the son of the late Clarence and Jewell Lane. He was a resident of Troup County for most of his life, he owned and operated Blue Flame Gas and Econo Flame for many years in the West Georgia and East Alabama area, and retired as Superintendent of Transportation with the Troup County School System. Mr. Lane owned and showed saddlebred horses for over 20 years and was recently inducted into the National Racking Horse Association Hall of Fame. He was a member of Springhill Baptist Church, loved gospel music and performed with gospel groups Glory Road and Redeemers, and was a big supporter of Callaway Football.
Survivors include his daughters, Cindy Lane O'Neal and her husband Wayne of Newnan, and Shelby Lynn Alexander of Hogansville; brothers, Larry Joe Lane of Carrollton and Eugene Lane of Newnan; grandchildren, Olivia Regan Boggs and Sylvia Nicole O'Neal; and a great-grandson, Brantley Ray Boggs. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lane was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Carter Lane.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 14, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville, with the Reverend Frank Sledge and Reverend Jody Mitchell officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 until 2 Monday afternoon.
