Billy R. "Rudy" Smith. Sr.

Mr. Billy R. "Rudy" Smith, Sr., 75, of LaGrange, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2023, at Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center.

Mr. Smith was born October 30, 1948, in Roanoke, AL, son of the late Henry Ralph Smith and Mattie Jeff Yarbrough Smith. A veteran of service in the U.S. Marine Corps, he lived in LaGrange most of his life and retired from the Dixie Division of West Point Stevens. He had been a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include his daughters, Tammy Smith of Seale, AL and Judiann Smith of LaGrange; son, Rudy Smith, Jr. and his wife Patti of LaGrange; nine grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; and his many friends at Waffle House. He is also survived by two young ladies that he helped raise, Nikki Whitman Howell and her husband Brady and their two children, and Elizabeth Whitman "Ann" Hill and her three children. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ronnie Davis and his sister, LuJean Williams.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 14, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Jeff Watts will officiate and interment will be in Bethany Lime Congregational Christian Church Cemetery in Rock Mills, AL.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Thursday prior to the service and at other times will be at 253 East Lakeview Dr. in LaGrange.
