Billy Joe Payne

Mr. Billy Joe Payne, 59, of LaGrange, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2020, at Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center. Born September 27, 1960, in Coweta County, Mr. Payne was the son of the late Robert and Sarah Hopson Payne. He spent most of his life in Troup County but had also lived in Deland, Florida and had worked at the Daytona Dog Track. Billy Joe thoroughly enjoyed westerns, collecting antiques, and his beloved dog, Cowboy. Survivors include his significant other, Duwanda Phillips, of LaGrange; daughter, Nicki Barradas and her husband Fabian, of Pine Mountain; son, Toby Joe Payne; stepdaughter, Ariel Gomez and her husband Marlon; sister, Kathy Payne; niece, Alisha Mathis; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; great-niece and great-nephews; all of LaGrange. He was preceded in death by his brother, Roger Lee Payne A family memorial service will be conducted at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville, with Donnie Baker speaking. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
