Mrs. Betty Spradlin Smith, 89, of Hogansville, passed away Monday, January 11, 2021, at Hospice LaGrange.
Mrs. Smith was born October 15, 1931, in Meriwether County, daughter of the late George Howell Spradlin and Opal Chappell Spradlin Bonner. A resident of Hogansville most of her life, she retired as office manager for the Meriwether County School System and was a longtime member of Union Baptist Church in the St. Marks Community. She enjoyed reading and baking, but especially loved spending time with her children and their families.
Survivors include her daughter, Sherry Smith of Maryville, TN; sons, Ronnie and Linda Smith of Hogansville, Mark and Leigh Smith of LaGrange; sisters, Janet and Jimmy Barber, Janice and Tyrone Montgomery all of Hogansville; brothers, J. C. and Evelyn Spradlin of Rome, Sidney and Nancy Spradlin of Hogansville; sister in-law, Nadine Spradlin of Hogansville; grandchildren, Will Smith, Kristy Stott (Cole Stott), Matt Smith (Melissa Smith), Ashley Harper (Jeffery Harper), Leslie Thomas (Burton Thomas), Kaitlin Smith; and great-grandchildren, Mason Stott, Maddox Stott, Liam Harper, Ryder Harper, Kaylee Foster, Jase Foster, Lynlee Foster. She was preceded in death by her husband, M P. Smith, Jr.; son, William Perry Smith; son in-law, Billy Smith; and brother, Howell Spradlin.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 13, at the graveside in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville, with the Reverend Bill Smith and Dr. Donald Yancey officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Tuesday night.
