Mrs. Betty Joyce Hayes Couch, 86, of Hogansville, passed away Sunday, August 29, 2021, at Southland Health and Rehabilitation in Peachtree City.
Mrs. Couch was born March 14, 1935, in Grantville, daughter of the late Foy and Ruby Booker Hayes. A resident of the Grantville area most of her life, she enjoyed flower gardening and was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Grantville. She was employed for several years with the Vend-All Company and American Thread; both in Newnan, and was later employed and retired from K-Mart in Newnan. She was a graduate of Grantville High School, where she was remembered as a women's basketball champion.
Survivors include her children, Dennis and Valarie Pritchett of LaFayette, AL, Andy and Joni Pritchett of Easley, SC, Lisa and Jeff Paquin of Powder Springs, Jeff Fernandes and Mandy Freeman of Moreland; sister, Patsy Tate of Riverdale; seven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Donald "J.D." Couch; son, Ricky Pritchett; granddaughter, Heather Pritchett Jones; grandson, Andy Pritchett, Jr.; sister, Mary Hayes Garrett; and brother, Johnny Hayes.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 2, 2021 in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. Pastor Brian Hosmer will officiate and interment will be in the Grantville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, prior to the funeral service.
