Betty Hyde Jones, age 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on September 4, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, compassion, generosity, and unwavering love for her family and friends.
Born on November 12, 1936, in Hogansville, Georgia, Betty lived a life defined by hard work, determination, and a servant's heart. A devoted Christian throughout her life, her faith in God guided her through life's joys and challenges and was the foundation upon which she built her life.
Betty was a gifted businesswoman and entrepreneur who was well known throughout the communities of Hogansville and Franklin. She owned and operated Jones Florist in Franklin, Georgia, and Mom's Flowers in Hogansville, Georgia, where she used her creativity and love of people to help families celebrate life's special moments. She also owned BJ's Dress Shop in Franklin, Georgia. After closing her businesses, Betty continued to share her knowledge and experience by working in both management and bookkeeping roles for several local businesses. She was respected for her leadership, dependability, strong work ethic, and ability to connect with people from all walks of life.
While Betty was successful in business, her greatest gift was her love for others. She had a caring and giving heart and never hesitated to help someone in need. Whether offering encouragement, lending a helping hand, or providing quiet support during difficult times, Betty touched the lives of countless people. Her kindness, generosity, and genuine concern for others left a lasting impression on everyone who was fortunate enough to know her. She believed in treating people with respect and love and was always willing to put the needs of others before her own.
Above all, Betty treasured her family. She leaves behind her three loving children, daughter Renee Jones Boggus, widow of the late Steve Boggus; son, Coe Jones (Judi); and daughter, Georgia Jones Hingle (Ron).
She was a proud grandmother to Steven Boggus, Jr. (Courtney), Jennifer Boggus Baker, Savannah Jones, Lael Mallory Latto (Mark), Krissy Selvege and Brittany McCormick. She was also blessed with ten great-grandchildren, Caden Boggus, Cooper Boggus, Gunner Baker, Skylar Boyette, Logan McCormick, Taylor McCormick, Rylee McCormick, Camryn Selvege, Bailey Selvege and Myles Selvege, who brought her immense pride and joy.
Betty is also survived by her brothers, Johnny Bass and Ronnie Bass (Christine), along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her father, James B. Hyde, and her mother, Viola Horton Hyde Bass.
Betty will be remembered for her strong faith, generous spirit, entrepreneurial drive, and unconditional love for her family. She lived a life of purpose, always striving to help others and make a difference where she could. The countless lives she touched through her kindness and compassion stand as a testament to the remarkable woman she was. Her legacy will live on through the family she cherished and the many people whose lives were enriched by knowing her.
In accordance with Betty's wishes, a private graveside service will be held for immediate family members. The family sincerely appreciates the prayers, love, and support shown during this time of loss and remembrance.
