Betty Smith Harrison

Mrs. Betty Smith Harrison, 83, of Austell, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2016, at Tranquility Hospice in Austell. Mrs. Harrison was born July 17, 1933, in Heard County, daughter of the late Cecil and Lucille Pitts Smith. A resident of Cobb County for 55 years, she was Baptist by faith and retired from AT&T after 35 years of service. Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn Roberts and her husband Eddy of Douglasville; son, Jerry Steven Herndon and his wife Wanda of Austell; sisters, Wynell Windom of Grantville, Jackie McCall and her husband Emmett of Villa Rica; brother, Terry O. Smith of Peachtree Corners; special friend, David Stovall of Austell; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Charles Anthony (Chuck) Herndon. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 17, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Terry Rainwater will officiate and interment will be in the Grantville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Wednesday. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
