Betty Smith Galloway

Mrs. Betty Smith Galloway, of Hogansville, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2016, at Hospice LaGrange. Mrs. Galloway was born October 13, 1927, in Meriwether County, daughter of the late Arthur Ernest Smith and Ella Emery Smith. A lifelong resident of Hogansville, she was Methodist by faith and retired from Uniroyal, Inc. after 25 years of service. She enjoyed dancing and loved to cook, but her family was the most important part of her life. Survivors include her daughter, Jenny Norwood and Blake Shelnutt; sons, Ron Galloway, Steve and Pam Galloway; daughter in-law, Linda Galloway all of Hogansville; grandchildren, Karen Trevena (Brian), Troy Galloway (Kacy), Wendy Scott (Eric), Wayne Norwood (Michelle), and Kerrie Smith (Brandon); nine great-grandchildren six great-great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Alice Lint.. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Carl Galloway; sisters, Pat Williams and Margaret Doler; and brothers, Joe Smith, Arthur E. (Buddy) Smith, Jr., and Roy Smith. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 12, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Terry Rainwater and Kevin Wegienka will officiate, with special music by Tracie Hunter. Interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Monday night. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
