The Reverend Betty Jane Champion, 66, of Hogansville, passed away Saturday, July 21, 2018, at her home.
Mrs. Champion was born July 13, 1952, in North Carolina, daughter of the late Edward and Frances Johnson Bloomberg. A graduate of West Georgia Technical College, she had lived in Troup County for 35 years and was employed at Hogansville Active Life before her health declined. She was a non-denominational evangelist and had authored two books on spiritual matters.
Survivors include her daughters and son in-law, Gloria and Theo Halls of Opelika, AL and Victoria Champion of Hogansville; sisters, Linda Willis and Sherry Bloomberg, both of New Bern, NC; brothers, Edward Bloomberg, Jessie Bloomberg, and Kennth Bloomberg, all of New Bern; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Carol Ann Tripp, and her brother, Tony Bloomberg.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 24, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. Elder Robert Leek and Pastor Wayne Alexander will officiate.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.
