MRS. BETTY ECHOLS BOWEN Mrs. Betty Lee Echols Bowen, 76, of Hogansville, passed away peacefully Sunday, August 2, 2009, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 5, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Dr. Dewey Bowen and the Reverend Jay Knight will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Bowen was born May 14, 1933, in Heard County, daughter of the late William and Pearl Duke Echols. She graduated from Franklin High School in 1950 and was a member of Wehadkee Baptist Church. She retired as treasurer of Bo-Tex Sales, which she co-founded with her husband. Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Reese (Buck) Bowen of Hogansville; daughter and son in-law, Jenny Dale and Walter Smith of Villa Rica; sons and daughters in-law, Stanley and Donna Bowen of LaGrange, and Jeffrey and Amanda Bowen of Hogansville; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters in-law, Mary George of Kentucky and Vivian George Burnette of LaGrange; a niece, Melissa George Duncan of Texas; and special friends, Gloria Price and Orbie Arrington of Hogansville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Gordon George and Thomas George. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements. Visitation: from 6 until 8 Tuesday night, August 4th, at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home Services: 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 4, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home. Interment: Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville
