Bette Ruth Carpenter

Mrs. Bette Ruth Carpenter, 82, of West Point, passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at LaGrange Nursing and Rehabilitation. Mrs. Carpenter was born May 23, 1936, in Carrollton, daughter of the late Ernest Paul Norton and Minnie Elizabeth Gay Norton. A resident of Troup County most of her life, she was Baptist by faith, was a former employee of City-County Hospital, and retired as an apartment manager. Survivors include her daughter, Teri and Clifford Barintine of LaGrange; sons, Gary and Cindy Carpenter of LaGrange, Bradley and Carmin Carpenter of Lanett, AL; sister, Mary Alice Lynch; brothers, Bobby Norton and Ernest Norton, all of LaGrange; grandchildren, Hanna Hewett, Haley Hewett, Cortney Carpenter, Clay Hewett, Gracie Carpenter, Josh Sunnenburg; and great-grandchildren, Alyvia Stillwell, Jem Hewett, Will Hewett, Luke Hewett, Gabriel O'Neal, Clayton Hewett. She was preceded in death on March 14, 2018, by her husband, Andrew Clayton Carpenter. A joint graveside memorial service for Mrs. Bette Norton Carpenter and Mr. Andrew Clayton Carpenter will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. , Sunday, August 26, in Meadoway Gardens in LaGrange, with the Reverend Bryan Geter officiating. The family will greet friends at the cemetery. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
