MRS. BERTHA THOMPSON
Mrs. Bertha L. Thompson, 77, of Mountville, died Friday, August 10, 2012, at Hospice LaGrange.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 12, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Anthony Breed and the Reverend Dwayne Perdue will officiate and interment will be in the Mountville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Saturday night.
Mrs. Thompson was born February 22, 1935, in Douglasville, daughter of the late Carlos and Leola Baker. She was a longtime resident of Mountville, where she owned and operated the Bargain Barn for 40 years before her retirement, and was a member of Mountville Baptist Church. She was a bus driver for the Troup County School System for 35 years, was loved by everyone in the community, and was always ready to help anyone in need.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Jane Foster; sons, Reggie Thompson and Chris Thompson; brother, J. C. Baker; grandchildren, Michael Bible, Hank and Hollie Boothe, Christina Thompson, Jennifer Lovell; great-grandchildren, Sage Bible, Laila Foster, Kaimen Foster; In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Thompson, Sr.; sons, William Lovell and Larry Lovell; sister, Ruby Bagwell; and brothers, Comer Baker and W. T. Baker.
