MRS. BERTHA HOWARD Mrs. Bertha Hanson Howard, 86, of Newnan, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at her home. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 16, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville, with interment in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Friday evening. Mrs. Howard was born January 18, 1927, in Newnan and was raised in Hogansville, daughter of the late William Sidney Hanson and Ruthie Dunn Hanson. Preceded in death by her husband, Bruce B. Howard, she raised her children and made a home for her family in many locations during her husband's Navy career, and returned to Newnan in 1961 following his retirement from active Naval service. Mrs. Howard was a photography enthusiast with her favorite subjects being friends and family. She was a strong and committed Christian and was of the Christian Science faith. Survivors include her sons, Bruce B. Howard, Jr. and his wife, Martha of Sharpsburg; Dr. Gary Howard and his wife, Debbie of Senoia; her daughters, Phyllis Howard and Pamela Howard, four grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Visitation: from 6 until 8 Friday night, March 15th, at Claude A.
