Barney C. "Chris" Moates

Mr. Barney Christopher "Chris" Moates, 69, of Carabelle, FL, passed away, Friday, October 31, 2025, at Hospice LaGrange.

Mr. Moates was born December 25, 1955, in Port St. Joe, FL, son of the late Barney and Nellie Boyce Moates. A lifelong resident of Carabelle, he spent his life working as a commercial fisherman and also served as a volunteer firefighter for the Lanark, FL Fire Department. He was an active member of Carabelle Senior Center and was a member of the Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include his sisters, Barbara Ferrell and her husband Jessie Lee Ferrell, Jr. of Manchester, GA. Beverly Flowers and her late husband Dennis Flowers of East Point, FL, Gina Tran and her husband Jean Paul Tran of Tallahassee, FL; niece, Melody Pike (Keith) and their sons Jarred Pike (Mallory) and Jarred's children Cooper, Reese, and Hayes, and Ethan Pike (Cheyanne) and Ethan's daughter, Aldoria; nephew, Allen Flowers and his daughters, Shelby Flowers and Emily Flowers; and nieces, Gabrielle Tran, Grace Tran, and Gillian Tran.

A memorial service is not being planned at this time.
