MR. BARNARD L. PHILPOT, JR.
Mr. Barnard L. (Pete) Philpot, Jr., 67, of Hogansville, died Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at Hospice LaGrange.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 16, at the First United Methodist Church of Hogansville, with the Reverend Richard Campbell officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Mr. Philpot was born March 29, 1945, in Charlottesville, Virginia , son of the late Barnard Lee Philpot and the late Mary Yancey Philpot. A graduate of Hogansville High School and an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, he received a Bachelor's degree from Valdosta State University and attended Candler School of Theology at Emory University. He was a retired Methodist minister, lived in the Savannah area before returning to Hogansville, retired as an investigator from the Meriwether County Sheriff's Department, and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hogansville.
Survivors include his son, Lee Philpot; and his daughter, Molly Philpot, both of Hogansville; sister and brother in-law, Maureen and Hudson Jeter of Oak Ridge, TN; and nephews, Jeff Magnan, Paul Magnan, and Mark Magnan.

Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
