MRS. AVANELLE C. PRATHER Mrs. Avanelle Cosper Prather, of Norcross, formerly of Tifton and LaGrange, died Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at the home of her daughter in Norcross. The funeral service will be conducted at 12 noon, Thursday, August 2, at the graveside in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville, with the Reverend Clinton Hughes officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 until 12 Thursday morning. Born June 16, 1924, in LaGrange, Mrs. Prather was a daughter of the late Grady and Bannie Denney Cosper. She lived in Tifton from 1968 until making her home in Norcross in 2010, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Tifton, where she was an active volunteer for many years. She is remembered as a loving, conscientious, and caring mother, who put her faith and her love of family first and provided excellent and constant care for her husband, Olin W. Prather, Jr., for five years before his death in 2006. She loved her family well, was loved by her family, and will be dearly missed. Survivors include her daughter and son in-law, Pat and Don Raposo of Norcross; sister, Claire Cosper Johnson of Lake Park and Macon; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements. Visitation: from 11 until 12 Thursday morning, August 2nd, at Claude A.
