Mr. Asbury E. "Buddy" Winkles, Jr., 77, of the Harrisonville Community of Troup County, passed away Saturday, December 5, 2020, at Hospice LaGrange.
Mr. Winkles was born June 17, 1943, in Coweta County, son of the late Asbury Emory Winkles and Janie Peppers Winkles. Before his health failed, he was employed by Thomas Parts Company in Hogansville, Abernathy Wrecker Service and King and Sons Parts Company in LaGrange, and was a former member and deacon of Harrisonville Baptist Church and former member of Providence Baptist Church. Mr. Winkles enjoyed fishing, woodworking, watching his two cats, playing solitaire, completing word puzzles, and seeing the hummingbirds feed, but he especially loved caring for his family.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Lord Winkles of Harrisonville; daughter, Kim Keith and her husband Grady Keith of Marietta; son, Joseph "Joey" Winkles and his wife Janet Winkles of Phenix City, AL; sister, Patsy Winkles McDonald; brothers, Thomas and Lana Faye Winkles of Hogansville, William "Punt" and Mildred Winkles of Sharpsburg; grandchildren, Alex Brand, Shannon Shifflett, Leslie and Chris Rowe, Christie Singleton, Cara Singleton; and a great-grandson, Wesley Brand. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Lynn Keith; and brothers, James "Did" Winkles and Chester "Joe" Winkles.
The funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Monday, December 7, at the graveside in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan, with the Reverend Allan Graham officiating.
