Mrs. Annie Laura Landers Scott Denney, age 105, died at Wynfield Park in Albany on July 1, 2017.
She was born in Chambers County, AL on April 10, 1912, but spent her adult life in Hogansville. She grew up on a farm in East Alabama and contributed her longevity to having grown up there. She graduated from Five Points High School in Five Points, AL, married Richard Lee Scott, and moved to Hogansville to live. After his death as a young man, she began working at the U.S. Rubber Company and eventually married Phil Denney, who died in 1976.
Annie Laura is survived by one daughter, Patricia Scott Culbreth (William) of Albany; a sister, Nell Landers Shelnutt of Roanoke, AL; two grandchildren, Gary Culbreth and Mary Culbreth Robbins (Tripp); two great-grandchildren, Rebecca Robbins Herrera (Bryan) and Emily Robbins; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her husbands, he was preceded in death by her parents, A. I. Landers, Sr. and Emily Hamlin Landers; her brothers, A.I. Landers, Jr. and Raymond Landers; and step-daughter, Jeanette Denney Latham.
Annie Laura loved her family, flowers, and the Atlanta Braves.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. (EDT) at the graveside in Antioch Christian Church Cemetery in Chambers County, AL near Roanoke, where many members of her family are buried. The Reverend Terry Rainwater will officiate.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 until 7 Tuesday evening.
