MRS. ANN C. YATES
Mrs. Ann Cheatham Yates, 94, of Hogansville, passed away Thursday, August 9, 2012.
Mrs. Yates was born December 30, 1917, in Cobb County, daughter of the late George and Clara Burnett Cheatham. She was a retired beautician, who owned and operated the Hogansville Beauty Shoppe for many years, and was an active member of Highland Baptist Church for over 60 years.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Technical Sergeant James L. Evans (KIA in World War II) and William L. Yates; her brothers, Ray, Ernest, and Ben Cheatham.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Jimmie Evans Artley and John Artley III of Tucker; brothers, C.L. Cheatham of Douglasville, Kenneth Cheatham of Powder Springs, and James Cheatham of Alcoa, TN; sister, Audrey Cole of Calhoun; granddaughter, Melissa Artley of Atlanta; nieces and nephews; the family of William Yates, including Barbara Yates of Hogansville, Becky Cosper of Hogansville, Donna Wilborn of Columbus, and Jennifer Knight of Hogansville; friend, Harold Todd and his family; and her caregiver, Sonya Crider.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, at Highland Baptist Church. Rev. Terry Rainwater and Rev. Frank Sledge will officiate and interment will be in Mars Hill Cemetery in Acworth at 3:00 p.m., Saturday.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Friday night.
