Mr. Ammie Lee "Bill" Bailey, 85, of LaGrange, passed away Monday, September 27, 2021, at Hospice LaGrange.
Born February 10, 1936, in Elba, Alabama, Mr. Bailey was the son of the late Fallie Richard Bailey and Clara Hendrix Bailey. He lived most of his life in Troup County and was a member of Hogansville Church of God. Mr. Bailey was retired from LaGrange Plastics as a buffer, worked at Food Depot, and served in the National Guard. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Bailey of LaGrange; daughters and sons in-law, Annette and Randy Thompson of LaGrange, Christine and Rev. Eddie Rudd of Dudley; sisters and brothers in-law, Lucy Mae and Talmadge Wood, Mary Lois and LaVaugn Sowell; brothers and sister in-law, Marvin Bailey and Junior Lee and Pinky Bailey, all of Florida; 9 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Alana Bailey Turner; his son, Ammie Lee Bailey, Jr.; and granddaughter, Celia Elaine Bailey Knight.
The funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 1, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. Reverend Jerry Scarborough and Mr. Daniel Rudd will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Thursday night.
