MRS. ALMA C. WASHINGTON
Mrs. Alma Combs (Bill) Washington, 93, of Newnan and formerly of Griffin, died Thursday, June 12, 2008, at Avalon Health and Rehabilitation Center in Newnan.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 14, at the graveside in Oak Hill Cemetery in Griffin, with the Reverend Dan Akins officiating.
Mrs. Washington was born May 22, 1915, in Spalding County, daughter of the late Rasmas and Maggie Crenshaw Combs. Before making her home in Newnan five years ago, she was a lifelong resident of Griffin, was employed for many years at Spalding Hosiery Mill, and was a member of Devotie Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sister, Helen Cowart of Newnan; a number of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, including her nieces, Barbara Wallace of Griffin, Sandra Hubbard of Gay, and Faye White of Newnan; great-niece, Danyse Matthews of Newnan; and great-great-nieces, Elizabeth Matthews and Cierra Storey.
The Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
