MRS. ALMA H. MURPHY
Mrs. Alma Hall Murphy, 102, of the Big Springs Community of Troup County, died Wednesday, November 27, 2013, at LaGrange Nursing and Rehabilitation.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 30, at the graveside in Shadowlawn Cemetery in LaGrange. The Reverend Kerry Wright will officiate.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Friday night.
Mrs. Murphy was born February 15, 1911, in Big Springs, daughter of the late John Albert Hall and the late Amanda Elizabeth Jones Hall. She was a lifelong resident of Troup County, was a member of Big Springs United Methodist Church, and was the wife of the late Fred Edward Murphy, Sr.
For many years, she was employed in the Troup County Courthouse and was working there in 1936 when the courthouse was destroyed by fire.
Survivors include her son, Fred Murphy, Jr. and his wife, Barbara of Big Springs; sisters in-law, Christine Hall of Marietta and Louise Hall of Big Springs; grandchildren, Fredee Murphy, Lashae Murphy, Michael Murphy and Vince Murphy; and six great-grandchildren.
Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.

Services: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 30th, at the graveside in Shadowlawn Cemetery
Interment: Shadowlawn Cemetery in LaGrange
