MRS. ALMA B. EVANS Mrs. Alma B. Evans, 94, passed into her heavenly home on February 11, 2013, following a courageous battle with several health problems. Mrs. Evans was born March 22, 1918, in Randolph County, Alabama, the fourth child of eight born to Charlie Benton Bailey and Martha Adams Bailey. Before making her home in Newnan three years ago, she had lived in Hogansville since 1941, where she was a long-time member of Antioch Baptist Church. At the time of her death, she was a member of East Newnan Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Evans was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Evans; son, Barry Evans; son in-law, Rev. Bill Perry; great-grandchild, Christie Leigh Roden; and sisters and brothers, Lucille Rollins, Elmo Bailey, Wilma Laney, Ted Bailey, Charles Bailey, Odell "Joe" Bailey, and Ruth Mattocks. Surviving are her children, Joyce Brown, Sylvia Perry Daugherty and her husband, Bob, Jerry Evans and his wife, Carolyn; grandchildren, Tammy Perry Roden, Steve Evans, Bryan Perry, Jeff Evans, Penny Evans Sledge, Rhonda Evans Jones, Greg Brown; great-grandchildren, Chris Roden, Jennifer Roden Otting, Ben Jones, Ryan Evans, Steven Evans, Jensen Jones, Amanda Sledge, Alexis Evans, Shannon Evans, Caleb Perry, Jared Sledge, Zach Sledge, Lillian Brown; and great-great-grandchildren, Lexi Otting, Ansleigh Otting, Emma Kate Roden. A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Evans will be held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, February 14, at East Newnan Baptist Church. Rev. Pat Latta, Rev. Frank Powers, and Dr. Bob Daugherty will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville. The body will be placed in the church at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 Wednesday night at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville, and at the church prior to the service. The family would like to express sincere appreciation to Gentiva Hospice and to the many friends who assisted the family in providing loving care to Mrs. Evans. Flowers are gratefully accepted, or the family suggests memorial contributions to East Newnan Baptist Church Building Fund or to the Alzheimer's Association. Claude A.
