MRS. ALICE POWERS
Mrs. Alice Attaway Powers, 87, of Griffin and formerly of Newnan, died Saturday, January 5, 2013, at Christian Ministries Hospice in Griffin.
The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 8, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Frank Powers will officiate and interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Monday night.
Mrs. Powers was born May 19, 1925, in Grantville, daughter of the late Mac and Jessie Lou Smith Attaway. She lived in Newnan before making her home in Griffin twelve years ago, was a member of East Newnan Baptist Church, and retired from William L. Bonnell Company after more than 30 years of service.
Survivors include her daughters and sons in-law, Elizabeth and Danny Bishop of Griffin, Mary Alice and Neil West of Newnan, Laura Walters of Arizona; sons and daughter in-law, William Powers of Combs, Arkansas, Michael and Angela Powers of Covington; brothers, Charlie Attaway of Grantville, Douglas Attaway of Hogansville; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Johnny Powers; and grandson, Tony West.
Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
