Mr. Alfred O. Daniel, 84, of the Lone Oak Community of Meriwether County, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Hospice LaGrange.
Mr. Daniel was born February 3, 1934, in Meriwether County, son of the late Stark Ellis Daniel and Nell Denney Daniel. He retired as a tax assessor for Meriwether County after more than 30 years of service and was a member and formerly served on the Administrative Board of Allen-Lee Memorial United Methodist Church in Lone Oak. He was a former Councilman and Mayor of Lone Oak, was a former volunteer firefighter for the Meriwether County Fire Department, and through the years had enjoyed carpentry, cars and cattle farming.
Survivors include his daughter and son in-law, Peggy and Jack Parker of Hogansville; son, Tim Daniel of Candler, NC; granddaughters and their husbands, Susan and Kevin Banks of Lone Oak, Karen and Jack Edmonds of North Pole, Alaska; and great-granddaughters, Mary Parker Banks and Claire Banks of Lone Oak. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Daniel.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 22, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Michael McFarlin and the Reverend Winston Skinner will officiate and interment will be in Allen-Lee Memorial United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Saturday night.
