Mrs. Dorothy Aldine Wheelus Pierce, 86, of Sharpsburg, passed away Monday, October 17, 2016, at her home.
Mrs. Pierce was born January 13, 1930, in Meriwether County, daughter of the late Charlie and Maggie Mae Morris Wheelus. A former resident of Forest Park, she retired from Sears in Atlanta after 25 years of service and had lived in Sharpsburg since 1984. She was a member of Union Baptist Church in the St. Marks Community of Meriwether County, where she enjoyed singing in the choir. Mrs. Pierce was part of a large family and she always loved being with her sisters and her grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter and son in-law, Jackie and Steve Brown of Hampton; sons and daughter in-law, Kenneth Pierce of Sharpsburg, Billy and Sylvia Pierce of McDonough; sister, Betty Hunter of Moreland; grandchildren, Katie Daugherty, Matt Brown, Lindsey Pierce, Brooke Pierce; and great-grandchildren, Lauren, Lydia, Jack and Emerson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Pierce.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 22, at Union Baptist Church in St. Marks. Dr. Tom Daugherty will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church from 10 until 11 Saturday morning.
