She retired in 2006 after 23 years of teaching. A most conscientious and caring person, while teaching, she worked with staff development, led extra-curricular activities, and was honored as Teacher of the Year several times. She taught business and information technology at Callaway High School, and previously taught at Hogansville High School and Dykes High School (n/k/a Sutton Middle School) in Atlanta.

She graduated from Meriwether County High School in Woodbury in 1960, then enrolled at University of West Georgia, later transferring to Georgia State University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in 1965. Besides education, her passions included her love of family and grandchildren, hosting large home-cooked Sunday dinners for all able to attend, showing love and kindness and appreciation to others, and her faith. She was a devoted caregiver to numerous family members over the years. She was active in Luthersville Baptist Church most of her adult life and New Hope Baptist in recent years.

The funeral service will be conducted Sunday, January 19th at 2:30 pm, at Luthersville United Methodist Church with Reverend Winston Skinner officiating. Interment will follow at the adjacent Luthersville Cemetery.
