Mr. Curtis S. Hornsby, 72, of Jonesboro, passed away Monday, October 2, 2023, at Piedmont Fayette Hospital in Fayetteville.
Mr. Hornsby was born January 3, 1951, in Newnan, son of the late Preston and Fostina Daughtry Hornsby. A 1969 graduate of Hogansville High School, he was an Eagle Scout and earned a Bachelors degree from the University of Georgia, where he served as drum major for the Redcoat Band. He was a graduate of Christ for the Nations Institute in Dallas, TX, lived in various areas of the country and served as a top sales representative for several transfer van lines prior to his retirement. He returned to Georgia ten years ago and was a member of Jonesboro Church of God.
Survivors include his sister in-law, JoAnn Hornsby of Griffin; brother in-law, Jack Landers of Acworth; nieces and nephews, Robbie Hornsby, Tonya Smallwood, Tina Dotson, Thomas Hornsby, Jr., Wayne Hornsby, Diane Sowers, Vickie Studemyer; and a number of great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Louise Hornsby Landers; and his brothers, Tommy Hornsby and Frank Hornsby.
The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 6, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. Dr. Richard Hanner and the Reverend Robert Ford will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday.
